Stella has been singing since before she can remember. As a child she sang along with the radio and the music television shows. Her favourite was the Australian show known as Countdown (like The Dome). ABBA was one of her all time favourite groups at the time.
At Kew High School the music teacher Mr. Julian Cairns heard her voice one day in class and encouraged her to audition for the high school musical and then eventually audition for the prestigious University High School.
At “Uni High” in 1985, Stella had the great fortune to study with Cavell Poli (dec. May 2010) who called her her ‘rough diamond’.
In 1988 Stella then transferred to the equally prestigious MacRobertson Girls’ High School where she completed her Year 12 and received the school colours for music and the school’s music award.
From 1989-1996 Stella spent studying singing, music and German at The University of Melbourne at the Faculties of Music and Art and also at the Victorian College of the Arts School of Music. During this time she had he great fortune to study with Jon Weaving and Monique Brynnel.
In late 1995 Stella had the amazing opportunity to visit New York City where it was literally love at first sight! New York, New York, was calling!
In 1998 Stella auditioned for the Mannes College of Music of The New School University. She was offered a place with a generous tuition scholarship and had the great fortune to study with some of the most acclaimed singers and musicians in the world. The next few years were spent working very hard on her voice and absorbing all of the incredible musical and cultural offerings of New York City.
During her time in New York City Stella started working with acclaimed dramatic mezzo-soprano Barbara Smith Conrad. When possible – unfortunately not very often – Stella works with Barbara in New York City, where Ms. Conrad is based. In late 2001 it was off to Europe and after some time in Austria, Greece and France, Stella finally settled in Munich, Germany, in 2002.
In 2003-2006 her singing took a back seat when she took time-off to care full-time for her beautiful son who was born in Munich in 2004.
In 2010 Stella went to an open casting for RTL’s “Das Supertalent” (Germany’s Got Talent!) and out of over 40,000 auditonees Stella made it through and appeared on the show on a night with 10 million viewers (one of the highest ratings in the show’s history). Spurred on by this achievement, Stella went into the studio and recorded “Silent Night” as a gift to her fans for Christmas 2010.
In 2011 the German language song “Leben 2.0″ was released by FloP featuring Stella singing in an operatic style.
During this time Stella also had the great opportunity to co-write original songs with an acclaimed German songwriter. The songwriting duo Rothenbach / Zigouras has written over 30 new original songs.
Stella has had the great honour and fortune to record and to release her own co-written original songs. In 2012 she released “It’s my body”, “Homegoing”, “Love confusion” and the destined to become Christmas classic “I just want you home for Christmas”.
In 2013 Stella has already released her original co-written song “Sing my life” and the original co-written uplifting duet “Save the world” with Armin Eiber (Supertalent 2012).
“Feel Christmas Love” her long awaited first Christmas album including four classics and eleven new and refreshing original Christmas inspired songs was released December 2013. Two new songs “Flying Dutchman” and “Blow the Wind Southerly” released December 2014. In 2015 more music and more songs to come. Watch this space.
